Pastor Tom is married to Sallie Ferrell. He is also actively involved in both the Walk to Emmaus and Journey to Damascus spiritual movements in the role of clergy and as a past Emmaus lay director.
WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT?
We celebrate the Lords Supper (Communion, the Eucharist) weekly. What makes this truly unique is that we practice Open Communion which means that everyone who confesses Jesus as Lord and Savior is welcome to participate and partake in the Lords Supper.
Lay people (non-clergy) are highly involved in our services. This includes both sexes and those of varying ages and ethnic backgrounds.
We believe that all churches that proclaim Jesus Christ should be joined through celebration, prayer, and fellowship. Southshore is a member of the Southside 7 which includes 2 Methodist Churches, 2 Catholic Churches, 1 Lutheran Church, and I Episcopal Church that meet together on special occasions for services.
We believe that each person is free to explore and interpret the Bible according to his or her own experiences within the community of other Christians.
